Construction remained on hold as the arrival and installation of the carpet continued to be delayed. In the meantime, preparation of the collection continued apace with several library student assistants contributing their labors to the effort.
The carpet squares were ready and installation began on Friday, July 15th. By Monday, the new carpeting covered both the Listening Room public areas and the Microforms area. Personnel also installed the fire extinguisher’s new housing, a case that is now flush with the wall outside the Listening Room. FM staff then began cleaning floors, furniture and wall fixtures in the rooms in preparation for the arrival of the new media shelving.
